Top achievers in almost every endeavor use a coach(s) to improve their performance. Top athletes have coaches. Top musicians have coaches. Many of the best in their field have multiple coaches. For most senior executives, having a coach is a valued benefit supplemented by their firm. Successful leaders benefit from the catalyst, tension and support that executive coaching provides. The very best leaders use executive coaching to deliver the best outcomes from their efforts. Paul has the experience and knowledge to coach the best to be better.
Paul was born in Champaign, Illinois and at 8 years old his family bravely undertook the cross-country road trip to California along Route 66 with three children under 12. Paul's father was a 3rd generation Chicagoan and it was life changing for the family when his father landed a job in California to work with the Department of the Navy to work on some of the very first computers.
Paul grew up and went to school 60 miles east of Los Angeles where he earned his Masters degrees in biochemistry and biology after he left the Navy where he had been stationed in Morocco and Japan.
Paul got his MBA at Pepperdine University while working at Baxter Biotech where he started his career in industry. At Baxter he reinvented himself from a bench biochemist to an IT department manager. 8 years later he repeated the process of reinvention by accepting a position in consulting. Paul spent the next 30 years consulting all across the U.S. to a wide variety of industries including banks, insurance companies and hospitals. In 2005, while working with KPMG, sent Paul to Australia where he built a profitable healthcare cost improvement program using coaching as the primary tool. After 5 years in Sydney he transferred to London where he had the opportunity to consult for and coach executive board leaders, government executives, and small business leaders.
After returning to the US 7 years ago, Paul settled in Chicago instead of Southern California. Soon after returning, he struck out on his own as an independent contractor working with healthcare organizations to enhance their performance with coaching as an important skill. He launched PaulMcBlaine.com in 2018.
Paul has over 35 years of leadership experience. He has coached over 500 leaders helping them achieve their objectives, enhance their performance, and refine their leadership styles. He believes in the power of coaching to unlock success in the face of complex challenges to deliver meaningful results. He has worked with leaders
Paul believes that every leader has resources within themselves to affect meaningful change. His role as a coach was to catalyze change by helping the leader to expand their strengths and focus their energy. Paul coached executives through difficult times. He coached leaders to deliver measurable results while enhancing their leadership skills and building on their strengths. He led many projects that delivered strategic plans, process redesign, organizational redesign, and cost reduction by coaching and facilitating teams of leaders.
